Printing on cotton or dark garments? DTF printing handles those

What is dye sublimation?
Vibrant, permanent prints that bond into the fabric or substrate
Dye sublimation is a heat process that turns solid ink straight into gas, bonding it into a polyester surface rather than sitting on top of it. That surface can be the fibers of a poly garment — or the poly coating on a mug, a metal award, a canvas, or a performance cap. The result is a smooth, full-color, permanent print that never peels, cracks, or fades.
Because the color becomes part of the surface, there's zero hand feel and no raised edges. It shines on white and light-colored polyester and poly-coated blanks. For cotton or dark garments, DTF or screen printing is the better fit.

How it works
From your image to permanent color product
Sublimation skips the liquid stage entirely: heat turns the ink to gas, the polymer opens, and the color diffuses in and locks as it cools.
1 · Print
Your design is printed in reverse onto transfer paper using sublimation inks.
2 · Press
Printed sublimation paper meets the poly or treated surface and hits 365–400°F heat & pressure.
3 · Sublimate
The solid ink turns straight to gas — no liquid — and the polymer surface opens up.
4 · Bond & cool
Gas dyes the surface; as it cools the polymer closes, locking color permanently inside.
Why it lasts
Where the color actually sits — and why sublimation wins on poly & compatible substrates
A cross-section of the surface. Other methods add a layer on top; sublimation dyes the fibers themselves — so there's nothing to crack, peel, or wear off.
What we sublimate

Mugs & drinkware
Poly-coated mugs and tumblers — dishwasher-tough color that wraps the whole surface.

Canvas prints
Poly canvas for signage, décor, and gifts — bright, permanent color that won't flake.
Light-colored caps
Poly-blend performance hats in white and light tones take clean, colorful logos.
…and more poly gear
Coasters, mousepads, phone cases, keychains — if it has a poly surface, ask us.

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
What products can you dye sublimate?
Anything with a polyester or poly-coated surface: performance apparel, coffee mugs and drinkware, metal and acrylic awards, canvas prints, and light-colored poly caps — plus coasters, mousepads, and similar poly gear. It works best on white and light-colored surfaces — if you're not sure your item will work, just ask.
Can you sublimate on cotton?
No — dye sublimation only works on polyester or poly-coated materials. For cotton garments, we recommend DTF or screen printing instead.
Is there a minimum order for dye sublimation?
We can do single items or bulk runs — but sublimation really shines for full-color, short-run prints with fast turnaround.
How long does dye sublimation last?
Dye-sublimated prints are permanent. The ink becomes part of the fabric, so it won't peel, crack, or wash out — even after dozens of laundry cycles.
Do you offer local pickup or delivery?
Yes — we serve Coatesville, Downingtown, Exton, Parkesburg, and nearby areas. Choose pickup or local delivery at checkout, or request it in your quote.
